Hello Robert,
Yes, that agrees word for word with the content of page 880, chapter xxxvi (pp872-906) of ‘The White House Papers of Harry L. Hopkins’, by Robert E Sherwood, my copy published in London 1949 by Eyre & Spotiswoode. Chapters in both works were entitled ‘The Final Mission’ but with different chapter numbers.
In the (if I counted correctly) 16th post of this thread, Carlos De Napoli said...
“I recommend reading ‘Roosevelt and Hopkins’ (an intimate history of Robert E. Sherwood) or ‘Speaking Frankly’ (James Byrnes) or The Secret Surrender (Allen Dulles). You can see the extensive knowledge that your "establishment" had the escape of Nazi submarine into Argentina."
Nothing in Sherwood addresses this, let alone supports the suggestion.
Am I missing something here? You state that the chapter begins on page 917 but that the section you quote as an excerpt is from page 892.
