Yes they were. Not uncommon for the U. S. Navy. The classic example is The submarine launched, MK 14 air-steam, straight running torpedo developed and introduced to the fleet in the mid 30's. It was still in service into the mid 80's. It was finally retired by USN when a substantial number of MK 48's were in hand and some of them could be dedicated to an anti shipping role. I would be willing to wager you can find MK 14's in Naval magazines in Turkey and Taiwan as they are still operating our old fleet boats that we modernized to GUPPY II's and III's in the early 50's and 60's. It wouldn't surprise me to find some put up in out of the way storage in other countries that operated our Fleet Snorkels and GUPPY's into the 80's and 90's. I bet you could find some MK 27's and MK 28's also.
